Simpsons Games
The Simpsons Hit and Run is another of the animated sitcom’s spinoff video games. This one being an action-adventure game. All the voices of the characters were supplied by the actual cast of the show. The game is also seen as a parody of Grand Theft Auto. The game received favorable review from various critics while others were not so taken with the game. But the game did receive the Fave Video Game award in 2004. Over three million units had been sold as 2007.
The game revolves around Home and his fight against the aliens Kang and Kodos and their marketing of Buzz Cola which causes it drinkers to go insane. With Professor Frink, helping Homer, the aliens are defeated and Springfield returns to normal. There are seven levels to the game, each one with its unique challenges and plot. In each level, you get to control only one of the game’s characters: Homer, Bart, Marge and Apu. In each level you can use a phone booth to select a car or alternatively you can commandeer one of the vehicles that litter the road as in Grand Theft Auto 3.
In each level, you can collect various items like coins (used to buy new cars) and outfits. The outfits are required to progress through the levels and the game. You also have the opportunity to pick up Itchy and Scratchy cards and wasps with cameras strapped to them. You will lose coins if you are injured or if you cannot escape the police.
